Out of Lab: Students Walk New York Streets - National Geographics & Pulitzer Center

By Mark Schulte

In the spring of 2016 the New York City Lab School partnered with the Pulitzer Center to create an innovative program based on the Out of Eden Walk. Seniors at the school explored the city in small groups. They walked familiar and new routes, interviewed people they met, and reported on what they found. The methods of slow journalism provided the students with a way of observing everyday sights with fresh eyes and deeper understanding. Lorraine A. Ustaris shot, edited, and produced this video, with additional cinematography by Adnan Khan and Paul Salopek.
